Join
us on the yellow brick road as we celebrate the 70th anniversary of MGM's iconic version of The Wizard of Oz at Hobart's
majestic Theatre Royal.
The Wizard of Oz is
proudly presented by Allan Jeffrey and Leiz Moore, a dynamic husband and wife team with a passion for producing entertaining
musical theatre. They have assembled Tasmania's finest theatrical performers, designers, technicians and musicians
to bring the colourful characters, unforgettable songs and spectacular staging to true 'technicolour' life.
Our stars include the dynamic Jeff Michel as Scarecrow,
hilarious Paul Levett as Lion, charming Mark
Wojcik as Tinman, vivacious Mandy Lowrie as
Aunt Em/Glinda, cheeky Jeff Keogh as Uncle Henry/Oz Guard, and the irrepressible Scott Hunt
as Professor Marvel/the Wizard. Leiz
Moore and Anna Kidd will explode onstage, sharing the role of Miss
Gulch/the Wicked Witch, and we are delighted to welcome the captivating Imogen
Moore and Petronella van Tienen to
share the role of Dorothy.
Leading
the creative team are our director Allan Jeffrey and musical
director Petr Divis who most recently collaborated on Eurobeat
- almost Eurovision and Disney's
Beauty & the Beast. We
also have Jon Bowling building the fabulous set and Andrew 'Ghost' MacDonald illuminating and special effecting
...think Miss Saigon, Beauty & the Beast and
many more. In theatre they say, "never work with children and animals" - well we love a challenge, with our
talented ensemble of 30 singers and dancers including a dozen children and a small dog!
We do hope you can join us - whether it's for a walk down the yellow-brick-memory-road
or your first adventure with The Wizard of Oz!
